Episode four | Soulless church

The island of Crete boasts numerous churches, yet one has always held a special fascination for me. It stands visible from the main road, seemingly abandoned and left as an unfinished project. A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit this intriguing site for the first time, and the experience immediately ignited my creative spirit. I decided to bring my equipment and film an episode for my 'Raw Waves' series.

Inside this open concrete structure, there was a captivating rawness, with hundreds of nails scattered on the floor and structural metal pieces clinging to the walls. Despite the fierce wind that day, I was determined to capture the moment. My tripod was knocked over twice, resulting in damage to one of my lenses. It was a challenging task to ensure my microphone and smartphone remained secure, but there was something ritualistic about playing and recording in such an environment on my own. This experience constantly pushes me to simplify my creative process and embrace the spontaneity of the moment.
